What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Contact forms

When you fill out our contact form and send it to us, you are providing us with a way to contact you to assist with any request or enquiry you have made regarding our services. We’ll keep those details on file for 12 months from date of your last communication with us unless otherwise instructed. You can ask us to delete this information at any time.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment.

These cookies will last for one year. If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices.

Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website (or send us your images to be uploaded), you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Analytics

This site uses cookies – small text files that are placed on your machine to help the site provide a better user experience. In general, cookies are used to retain user preferences, store information for things like shopping carts, and provide anonymised tracking data to third party applications like Google Analytics. As a rule, cookies will make your browsing experience better. However, you may prefer to disable cookies on this site and on others. The most effective way to do this is to disable cookies in your browser. We suggest consulting the Help section of your browser or taking a look at the About Cookies website which offers guidance for all modern browsers.

Who we share your data with

We don’t directly share your data with anyone. We don’t sell it, we don’t let anyone else take a peak at it. BUT, as stated about with the fact that we use Google analytics software, THEY are seeing some of your data before it even reaches us. Also, things like Facebook and other social media links can also see your data. That’s not us ‘sharing it’, as the social media companies are the one’s in control of your data to begin with (if you have an account with them).

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Other than that, your data goes nowhere.

Your contact information

We receive your contact details if you fill in the contact form on our website or if you supply them during a phone conversation. The details are kept on a secure, password encrypted computer for 1 year from the date of your last communication with us, and then deleted.

How we protect your data

Our computers are kept on locked, alarmed premises and the data is stored on secure password protected drives. Only 1 person has full access to all areas and the passwords to the computers.

What third parties we receive data from

With the exception of our analytics information (stated above), we don’t receive any third party data.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

There is no automated decision making of any kind by Avango Couriers Ltd currently. We are a small business whose main objective is to provide:
A) a range of courier services through Avango Couriers
B) information for courier businesses through Couriers TV

We are not some multi-billion pound organisation that wants to know what you had for breakfast so that we can sell you a particular kind of butter for your toast and make even more money.
